West Virginia State Parks and National Parks Information
River Expeditions is conveniently located near the heart of the New River Gorge National Park where hiking and biking trails are yours to explore. Begin your exploration at the Canyon Rim Visitor’s Center where park rangers are on staff to lead interpretive hikes and point the way to the most unique spots within the park.
Join a Ranger and learn more about the beautiful area we call New River Gorge! Rangers from the National Park Service will be joining River Expeditions each Tuesday evening and every 3rd and 4th Saturday evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m. to present a free 45-minute program on various topics. This program runs June - August at our Fire Creek Lodge & Conference Center. Come and discover more about our area's amazing plants, animals, and history!
West Virginia is home to some of the country's most beautiful state parks as well. Be sure to check out these fabulous parks, each with distinctive offerings and opportunities for their visitors. Pipestem Resort, Twin Falls Resort, Hawks Nest, Little Beaver and Babcock State Parks within an hours drive of River Expeditions. Some parks offer lodging and camping, golf, swimming, boating, aerial tramways, restaurants, and other recreational opportunities and, of course, dramatic views of the West Virginia landscape.
