Pick Your Sick Days Wisely

From 8° to 57° all in a matter of days, this my dear friends is winter in West Virginia! Monday morning I woke up to about 5 to 6 inches of snow with extreme frigid temperatures. This means the dreaded walk in your snow boots and pajamas to start your car to allow time for the ice to melt off of your car before heading to work. As I am walking back into my warm house from the freezing temperatures I ask myself, “Why am I not living in Florida?” Then one of my dear friends, who is also a River Expeditions guide, gives me a call and suggests we go skiing. Winterplace Ski Resort is just a short drive from River Expeditions. So the thought of skiing down the slopes on fresh natural snow, brings out the adventurous side of me. Yea, I should be going to work today, but why not take advantage of the situation and we’ll call this a ‘not’ sick day, but a ‘research and development’ day. We’ll learn what all West Virginia does have to offer. All in an instant I remember just why I love living in West Virginia. We had an awesome time skiing and tubing down the hills. It was definitely a sick day well used!
So here it is Thursday and the high temperature today could possibly reach the low 60°’s. Wait a minute, was it not just two days ago my neighbors saw me in my Strawberry Shortcake flannel pajamas and bright pink snow boots heading out to start my car? Anyhow, I get a call from a few of my friends and they are headed out for a quick raft trip through the gorge (wearing wetsuits, of course). In case you don’t know, the great thing about all of this snow is it melts and turns into extreme whitewater, which makes for an exciting New River journey! Spring on the New is like no other! Unfortunately, missing work on Monday prevented me from hitting the rapids today! Although, I loved taking a day and enjoying the slopes my heart stays true to the whitewater adventure! So the next time you feel like calling in sick…join “us” on the river, because next time I will be there! Peace, Love & Whitewater

Take a Well Deserved Rafting Break

With a group of 8 women you would expect a least one complaint. We had NONE. Our trip was great. Justin is a Great Guide. Jay, Scott, and Brian (the driver) were also great. Thanks for the Ride!
