Go Green!
So here it is March 18th, 2009, the day after St. Patrick’s Day! A holiday that most love to celebrate, but being Irish I think it is mandatory to attend some kind of “Green” festivity. After living in Columbus, OH, for many years this will be the first St. Patrick’s Day I will be spending in Fayetteville, WV. Previously, I had my day perfectly planned in Columbus. For my Buckeye readers, you will be familiar with my St. Patrick’s Day route by starting the day at 7 AM at Flannigan’s for green kegs and eggs. Then headed to Dublin, OH, to make appearances at On the Rocks and The Dub Pub. I would eventually work my way around the west side of 270 and closer to home and end the night at O’Malley’s in Galloway. Confused of a new plan for this year, I called a few friends. They assured me, Fayetteville, WV, (which is recognized for being the coolest small town) is the place to be for any kind of festive celebration.
Always willing for a new adventure, I put on my “Kiss me I’m Irish” T-shirt, my green wig and accessorized with a few green flashing beads from previous years and head out for some celebrating. Since the Red Dog River Saloon doesn’t open until April 4th, my first stop is Charlie’s Pub. Charlie’s is a small pub, but perfect for meeting a few friends or a place where strangers become your new friends. I ran into several coworkers who were out doing some celebrating themselves. Secondly, we stopped by Elliot’s Bar & Grill, located at the Quality Inn Hotel. I recommend trying their chicken wings! Finally, we ended the night at Rezan’s. A few pool tables, Karaoke, green beer, fried pickles and some buffalo chicken dip! Now that’s the way to end a good night!
During the season, The Red Dog Saloon does some festive celebrations as well! Look at our calendar of events for special dates. A few of my favorites are College Weekends, Beach Party Weekend and the Halloween Party! Generally, local bands play every weekend. So no need to worry…we have something to do, and there is always a reason to celebrate!
