West Virginia White Water Rafting Trips

Real vs. Reality

With the advent of reality TV, the focus has shifted from scripted, staged shows to true, live television. Now, I’m not a huge fan of this concept; however, it has lead, in part, to the trend of ‘real’ experiences in all aspects of life - especially travel and vacations. These days we don’t simply enjoy meals and wine while on vacation, we go to cooking classes and grape stomping festivals. Instead of going to a water park for big splashes, more people are choosing the real thing – rafting on an actual RIVER! It’s the notion that we get the most authentic experience out there, whatever we do. For those who want a true opt-in vacation, it doesn’t get any more real than a whitewater rafting expedition.
Rafting lends itself to team work and cooperation in order to maneuver the raft and negotiate the rapids. Being out in nature allows for a true wilderness experience, removed from cell phones, email and the pressures of reality (even if just for a day). The historic significance promotes learning and appreciation of the environment. This year, River Expeditions is pleased to be working with the National Park Service so guests can go deeper in their vacation experience, learning even more about the history, culture and preservation of the park in which they’re enjoying recreational time. Following a day on the river, gather around the campfire or in our comfy lodge for a Ranger-led discussion on an array of topics relating to the New River Gorge National River. So, when it comes right down to it, rafting combines all these elements for a well-rounded vacation experience. I believe passive vacations are passé. So the next time someone tells you to ‘get real’, say okay, let’s go whitewater rafting in West Virginia. Hjo

Here it is two days after Christmas and I am already pumped up about the up coming rafting season. I′m going to book my September trip on the upper gauley in a few minutes and will be booking a trip for sometime in July when I know the dates. Whoever reads this tesimonial page should listen to what everyone says and raft with River Expeditions they will not be let down.
