Countdown to Rafting Season 2008

Wow, I can hardly believe the 2008 rafting season is almost here! It seems like winter (if you can call it that) has flown by. Everyone here at River Expeditions is busy with construction projects and preparations for the upcoming season. We are anxious to get back on the river and we look forward to showcasing all the new products and facilities at our brand new locations at the former Appalachian Wildwaters basecamp.
Local rain has been hard on our construction efforts but great for raising the river level - high water is forecasted throughout the spring! River Expeditions offers many themed and special events weekends in April and May with significant discounts off the regular rates, so make time to join us for some fun on (and off) the river. With all the gloom and doom spewing from media outlets regarding gas prices, the mortgage crisis, and the weakened economy, I remain optimistic that whitewater rafting will emerge as a fun, affordable and accessible (CLOSER THAN YOU THINK) vacation option. The way I see it, we all need to get away and take a break once in a while in order to recharge our batteries. And there is no better escape than on the river! We look forward to seeing you soon... please stay tuned to our blog and sign up to get our online newsletter. Hjo

Take a Well Deserved Rafting Break

AMAZING!! On Sunday we rafted the Lower Gauley, and Monday the Upper. One is not necessarily superior to the other, just different. The bigger sibling (Upper) will definitely make you respect the river. I can′t imagine how the poor guys who decided to raft with those other companies must feel. Extreme was professional, safe, yet gave a group of adventurous guys their money′s worth several fold. Thanks to Justin and Spencer, the surfing was awesome. The guys from Mayberry will see you next year. Thanks to the good weather, being the only 4 guys on the river without wetsuits turned out to be great also.
