With a shared goal of creating an environment for guests to enjoy all that West Virginia has to offer, managing partners Rick and Heather Johnson oversee daily operations at River Expeditions keeping that aim in mind. They bring unique, complementary skills and perspectives to their business, offering a hands-on approach that sets River Expeditions apart from other outfitters. Don't be surprised to see Rick behind the wheel of a shuttle bus (or under it, for that matter, doing routine maintenance) or Heather ringing up a sale in the outfitter store.

Some outfitters have an almost corporate feel while others seem to have no identity at all. Rick and Heather are available to their guests and sensitive to their needs. “We know it’s important to keep the experience real. Our guests want to put a face with a name. We pride ourselves on being accessible to our guests and staff at all times. Other outfitters have multiple business holdings and even other jobs, but this is our solitary pursuit. We are proud to focus our time, energy and passion into running our company well."
