Family White Water Rafting Trips and Vacations
These family rafting trips offer a playful introduction to rafting featuring easy to moderate whitewater (Class I – III), tranquil pools, and amazing scenery. This trip is great for families with young children or older adults who want a low-impact adventure. Single and two-person duckies (inflatable kayaks) are also available on this trip for added adventure.
Families come in all sorts of ways; grandparents, ‘steps’, extended families, traditional families, and single parents. There’s room for us all on the Upper New River. This is the place for graceful floating, lazy drifting and spending quality time together. This is the perfect prelude to the Lower New River trip.
You’ll experience gentle waves, tranquil pools with a few mild rapids and a glimpse of nature at its best. This trip offers opportunities to swim, paddle, practice your ‘water battling’ skills, take photos, learn the fine art of ‘ducky wars’ and simply play on the river.
River Expeditions guides are engaging, patient and genuinely committed to showing your family a fantastic time on the river. Your guide will seamlessly blend enthusiasm with expertise as they share their knowledge and love of the river.
On this section you can choose to stay high and dry in a raft or choose to be up close and personal in a single or two-person ducky (inflatable kayak). Duckies are surprisingly stable, comfortable and easy to paddle offering more freedom and opportunities for a challenge. You’ll get hands on instruction as well as ongoing support and encouragement thoughout the trip.
The use of oar-assisted rafts on this section allows guides more control, with less physical impact on you. So, if you have been reluctant to try this adventure, you can select this option and feel confident that it won’t be too physically demanding.
Upper New River - Family Class Rafting
The Upper New River is a playful introduction to rafting for families of all sizes and ages (6 and up). This trip is characterized by gentle waves, tranquil pools with a few mild rapids and a glorious glimpse of nature at its best. Here you'll have plenty of opportunities to swim, play, paddle, spot wildlife, take photos and just relax and take in the beauty of your surroundings.
On this mild section River Expeditions offers the use of one and two person 'duckies', or inflatable kayaks, for an added challenge with increased maneuverability. Get hands on instruction in paddling and 'surfing', while the refuge of a guided raft is never far away. The Upper New River is the perfect prelude to the Lower New River trip. This is our most popular scenic family class adventure trip.

Upper New River / Upper New River Family Overnight Trip
Family Overnight trips combine the fun and excitement of being on the river two days with the incredible experience of camping out along the riverbank underneath the stars. This trip features rafting on the magnificent Upper New River, a playful and mild section of the New River Canyon. Here you can use our inflatable kayaks, called 'duckies', for even more fun on the water. After a great day on the river, pull over and relax while dinner is being prepared by your guide. After dinner, gather around the cozy campfire for a sing-a-long and a marshmallow roast. The next morning you'll enjoy a delicious hearty breakfast before taking on the Upper New River for the second day. This is the ultimate family bonding trip - perfect for families with children ages 6 and up.

We have been showing the awesome pics from the trip, we had two fantastic guides. Both were terrific guides, great trips, wild and fun waters, interesting conversations, but most of all your whole crew Laura, Kristin, the video guy, the other guides all made us feel at home and welcome.
